Culture
The third grade class learned about traditional Mexican culture and
the interesting story of the origination of Animalitos, a traditional Mexican craft.
The students designed and produced their own Animalitos, starting with 2D drawings
and then creating 3D forms using paper, cardboard, and tape. The forms were finished
with paper mache and painted.

Art History
I created a game to help teach 4th graders about the art styles of Cubism, Surrealism, and Pop Art. We had whole group discussions about the styles and then each student received a card with either a work of art or an artist style with the definition. The students match up the artwork with the style and explain to the rest of the class why they match. It is a fun and interactive way for the students to learn about art history and recognize the characteristics of various art styles.
Student Media Centers
During my Elementary Student Teaching I had the opportunity
to develop and set up a collage center in the classroom. I also had
the chance to introduce and utilize the center with the second, fifth, and
sixth grade classes.

Incorporating Technology in the Classroom
I utilized the smartboard and an interactive website, www.picassohead.com,
for the 1st grade Picasso inspired portraits lesson.
The students enjoyed coming up and choosing and moving various facial features.
The activity also showed the students a variety of examples of facial features that
they could use for ideas when creating their own picasso inspired portraits.
